BRIEF HISTORY

BRIEF HISTORY

Our Lady of Holy Cross School (OLHCS) is sponsored and operated by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.
The educational experiences in both the preschool and primary sections mainly focus on character formation, for example, to take care of oneself, to develop caring attitude, to be kind, to treat others with respect, to work and play with others, to have positive attitude toward learning, and to develop listening skills.
The educational experiences are shaped by and built around the interests and needs of the children.

The School started in 2004 as a small pilot project in the form of an after school program for the primary school children from St Martha school in a rented house in down town Kasoa. After operating for one year the Sisters decided to begin a pre-school in the same building. Thus Our Lady of Holy cross was born in September 2006 with 21 fortunate kids.

In February 2007, the Sisters of the Holy Cross moved into their new convent and in September of the same year, it became necessary to transfer the pre-school to the Sisters residence while awaiting the completion of the first phase of the three phase school project by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross.

At the beginning of the 2008/2009 academic year, Our Lady of Holy Cross School moved into the new classrooms. The School consists of a preschool and a primary school and admits all children who are eligible to attend school.
